Lower Jaws, Dells of the Wisconsin

1903

Henry Hamilton Bennett

Artist, American, born Canada, 1843 - 1908

Two men in a canoe row toward us and a bank of rocks and boulders lining the bottom edge of this black and white, nearly square photograph. Sheer cliffs and trees rise from the banks to each side. The cliffs narrow like an almost closed letter C a short distance from us and then open onto wider tree-lined banks beyond. Puffy clouds skim across the sky above.
