At the Mouth of Cold Water Canyon, Dells of the Wisconsin

c. 1900

Henry Hamilton Bennett

Artist, American, born Canada, 1843 - 1908

From the flat top of striated, sheer rocks, we look down onto a person rowing a canoe toward us in a river in this horizontal black and white photograph. The rocky banks funnel the river, which comes toward us, like a canal. Evergreen trees are spiky silhouettes against a cloudy, pale sky. Printed text at the bottom left of the photograph reads, “At the Mouth of Cold Water Canyon, Dells of the Wisconsin. Copyright by Henry H. Bennett.”
