Details

Overview: 87 paintings from the 18th century to the present were on view to show Canadian art during the last 50 years. A group of 8 works from the 18th and 19th centuries served as historical background. Featured were paintings by the "Group of Seven," initiators of the first consciously national movement in Canadian painting whose first joint exhibition had been held in 1920.
Organization: The exhibition was arranged by the National Gallery of Canada. Organization and catalogue text was by R.H. Hubbard, curator of Canadian art at the National Gallery of Canada.
