Marvel at a new addition to our collection—Dario Robleto’s Small Crafts on Sisyphean Seas. The large glass case contains objects of wonder. Robleto combined sparkling synthetic materials and natural objects like seashells and butterfly wings to create forms that suggest plants and animals.

The artist was inspired by the Golden Record, a gold-plated phonograph disk that was sent aboard the Voyager spacecrafts in 1977. Robleto imagined this sculpture as his own gift to extraterrestrials.

The mesmerizing work is presented in conversation with other artworks inspired by nature, including Dutch and Flemish 17th-century still life paintings and a Nautilus Cup crafted from a seashell.
