Overview: 148 drawings by 93 artists came from about 25 collections in Holland, augmented by loans from Germany, Canada, and the United States. The show was organized by the print room of the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, and circulated by the Smithsonian Institution. Additional works were selected by J.Q. van Regteren Altena, director of the Rijksprentenkabinet, who prepared the catalogue. From Hieronymus Bosch to Vincent van Gogh, the survey included 18 drawings by Rembrandt and 19 more from the National Gallery, added for the Washington showing.
